Helping Irish Hosts, alongside our Consortium partners the Irish Red Cross and IOM, are delighted to share that we are heading to National Ploughing Championships 2024!
Since the rain and mud last year didn’t dampen our spirits, we’re busy packing up the van again in preparation for EVEN more cups of tea, chats and celebration! This year, we’re coming together with Community Sponsorship Ireland (CSI) to spread the word about hosting, the positive impacts for hosts and guests, and to share the ways communities can come together to welcome refugees and displaced people.
Here’s what we got up to at Ploughing 2023!
Last year we headed to Ratheniska for the first time, set up a kitchen in a shipping container, planted a garden out the front, put the kettle on and welcomed hundreds of you in for a cuppa and a chat. Offering shelter from the rain, our makeshift home represented the sanctuary that the hosting community offers displaced people arriving in Ireland everyday.
Over the three days, we connected with rural communities, met our hosts in real life, interviewed with the national media and raised awareness of the pledged accommodation programme with the government. HUGE thank you to everyone who came along last year!
We are SO excited to welcome you back to our kitchen table at Ploughing 2024 where you’ll find more tea and hopefully LESS mud as we’ve moved our stall inside, you’ll be glad to hear!
